After

1. Why did you start the program?

To be honest, it had everything to do with my kids. We were playing and I said let’s sit for minute because we must have been playing hard for 45 minutes or so. I sat down, looked at my watch and it was less than 10 minutes. I knew then I had to make a change if I wanted to be a participant in my children and wife’s lives.

2. What was your biggest struggle while on the program?

The only struggle I experienced was the first week. I had to fight myself mentally. My body was not hungry, but because of the time, an event, or expectation, I thought I had to eat. I thought I needed to eat. After this program became the norm, it was not hard at all.

3. What is your favorite product?

Definitely the wafers, especially the lemon and orange flavors. They satisfy my need for crunch and taste great.

4. What is your favorite trick to give to a new dieter?

My favorite trick is that there is no trick. There is no magic or secret. New dieters have to be vigilant and aware of their relationship with food. At the end of the day, it is about what you put into your body.

One thing that has helped me is the journaling. I put everything down on my ap. I don’t and can’t lie to myself. So when the calories rack up because of a bad day, I know the impact. It is important for me to track the food, the nutritional values, exercise, weight, etc. It is my constant feedback loop.

5. What have you noticed beside weight loss that has been beneficial while on a program?

I don’t have the constant aches and pains any more. I used to have chronic back pain and spasms, that would knock me down for days. Just a few weeks into the program, I notices my knees didn’t hurt and one day I mentioned to my wife that I couldn’t remember the last time I had a back spasm. I feel healthy.

I also have a lot more energy. I look forward to waking up and starting my day with exercise (my wife is not a morning person, so she isn’t as thrilled with this effect. 😊 )

Lastly, I would say that it also has helped me mentally. I am happier with myself, which translate positively to my family, friends and co-workers.

6. What have you noticed beside weight loss that has been beneficial while on the program?

Nothing. What I have learned on the program is portion control and balance. Of course, I will have less of food that isn’t as healthy. For instance, I don’t order dessert when dining out. I will have a bit of my wife’s or kid’s dessert and that will satisfy me. But I won’t deny myself a food or food group. I have learned that one I tell myself that I won’t have something, that is all I can think about and begin to crave. What the program and my coach have done for me is teach me to be aware, portions, and enjoy food again.

7.What have you learned while on the program that you will during maintenance?

As I mentioned, awareness of what I am eating, balance, and portions. I will also eat 5 to 6 times a day so that I don’t get hungry. I will also take that everyone slips and has bad days, and it won’t do me any good to beat myself up or go to extremes to less the impact. I just have to get back on track as soon as I recognize it and move forward.

8. What was your best experience while being on the program?

My coach! Cordelia is the best. Over the past 8 months, she has been my mentor, my counselor, my cheerleader, and my voice of reason. She has helped me more than a few sentences can describe. When I would be discouraged because I didn’t lose weight one week, she would point out the positives and remind me that just because you didn’t lose weight that I was still on track and doing well. She made herself available via phone and texts. She would check in if I was traveling and couldn’t meet her for our weekly appointment.

9. What is your favorite new meal that you will continue to use while you are in maintenance?

I really like the Mushroom and Parmesan Couscous Risotto.

10. What advice would you give to a new dieter?

Have a support team. People that will be honest, encourage and provide real support. I also would say write (type) it down. Track what you are eating. Get to know your eating habits.

11. Any additional Comments?

I didn’t do this alone. I haven’t been successful solely because of Ideal Protein. This worked for me because of my supportive and encouraging family. I also had the best coach. It took me a very long time to realize that I couldn’t do this alone. This program provided easy to use tools for success. My coach provided insight and direction, and my family was there every step.
